Student Groups

The University of Florida offers numerous opportunities for students to get involved with student organizations related to Africa and African culture. The Center is home to the Students in African Studies Association (SASA), which hosts multiple lunchtime seminars every semester.

Another organization of interest is the African Student Union, founded in 1972 to support and unite African students and to promote awareness of African issues and culture to all students and the Gainesville community.

Students are also encouraged to participate in one of the Center’s many interdisciplinary working groups.

Finally, students regularly participate in conferences including the African Studies Association Annual Meeting.
