Join us as we create a community art piece to be displayed at the Alys Stephens Center in celebration of our 15th season.

Common Thread Activities
November 7-11

Common Threads showcases the artistry of two of the world's most vibrant contemporary textile traditions: The Quilters of Gee's Bend, Alabama and Groupe Bogolon Kasobane, mud cloth masters of Bamako, Mali working simultaneously on their art pieces during the course of a week-long residency in the Alys Stephens Center lobby November 7-11.

Lunch-time discussions and special events will explore each art form and the artists that practice it, the similarities between the art, and cultural memory patterns included in both groups' artistic expressions. Plus, there will be hands-on educational activities throughout the week. Check the website for complete details.

Workshops

Dave Clemmons Musical Theatre Coaching
Receive one-on-one musical theatre coaching by Dave Clemmons of Clemmons/Dewing Casting in New York. Mr. Clemmons has cast Broadway shows including Wonderland, The Boy from Oz, Driving Miss Daisy, National Tours of Evita, Cats, Jekyll & Hyde and Chicago. He began as a performer on Broadway in such shows as Les Miserables (Valjean), The Civil War, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Jekyll & Hyde. He has served as music/vocal director for many Broadway and National Tours, is a producing partner in StylesFour Productions, and he has taught/lectured at every major music theatre training program in the country. Space is very limited. Participants will need to prepare two musical theatre pieces in contrasting styles.
