Schedule a Visit to a CCI School

CCI Visitation Programs

Visitation programs for students interested in the Schools of Communication Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication or Visual Communication Design.   For information about CCI majors, go to the GPS website.  For more information about the College of Communication and Information, go to the CCI college website. Parking for all of the events will be in the Admissions, Schwartz Center Parking lot. 

School of Communication Studies:
Shadow Days

Are you interested in a major in Applied Communication, Global Communication, Health Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Organizational Communication, or Public Communication?   The School of Communication Studies (COMM) Shadow Day is a program for prospective high school juniors and seniors as well as college transfer students.  This program offers attendees an opportunity to learn about COMM majors, meet COMM faculty and administrators, talk with a COMM advisor, and attend COMM classes with current students.  
  • Dates: Mondays, Jan. 30, Feb. 20, March 12, and April 9
  • Time: 1 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: 135 Taylor Hall

School of Visual Communication Design:

Are you interested in a major in Visual Communication Design (Graphic Design) or Photo Illustration (Photography)?  The School of Visual Communication Design (VCD) Shadow Day is a program for prospective high school juniors and seniors as well as college transfer students.  This program offers attendees an opportunity to learn about VCD majors, meet VCD faculty and administrators, talk with a VCD advisor, tour the VCD facilities and classrooms in the ART Building, and attend VCD classes with current students.
  • Dates: Mondays, Jan. 30, Feb. 20, March 12, and April 9
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

JMC & Franklin Hall Tours

Students interested in majors in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) can participate in a tour of Franklin Hall to see the state-of-the-art facilities, including the video studio and control room, the converged newsroom, and interactive learning classrooms and labs.

  • Dates: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 
  • Beginning Jan. 18 and ending May 30 
  • EXCEPT for Jan. 30, Feb. 20, March 2, March 12, March 19, March 21, March 23, March 28, March 30, April 9 and April 18
  • Time: 1 to 1:30 p.m.
  • Location: 201 Franklin Hall

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) Student Media Shadow Day is a program for prospective high school juniors and seniors as well as college transfer students.  This program offers attendees an opportunity to learn about JMC majors, meet JMC faculty and administrators, talk with a JMC advisor, tour the state-of-the-art JMC facilities and classrooms in Franklin Hall, attend JMC classes with current students, sit-in on a student news meeting, and watch a student-run news broadcast. 
  • Dates: Mondays, Jan. 30, Feb. 20, March 12, and April 9
  • Time: 3 – 6 p.m.
  • Location: 214 Franklin Hall
