Who Gets Financial Aid?

Financial aid is defined as funding that comes from outside your family to assist with paying for your college education. Some aid needs to be repaid (like loans) while “gift aid” (like scholarships and grants) do not have to be repaid.

Kent State University awards financial aid based on financial need and/or merit. More than 85 percent of Kent State freshman receive some form of financial aid including grants, student loans, parent loans, work-study and scholarships.
