The UAB Dentistry Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are now available. SOPs were created by our faculty members to be guidelines for specific clinical procedures. They include a brief evidence-based rationale, a description of armamentarium required, and step-by-step instructions. They are accessible in hardcopy form in the second floor clinic and in Sharepoint under the ”General SOD Information” tab (see “Shared Documents” => ”UAB Dentistry SOP”). Requires BlazerID.

- Dr. Mary MacDougall was awarded the Student Clinician of the American Dental Association’s 2012 Burton C. Borgelt / SCADA Faculty Advisor Award for her outstanding dental student mentorship. ...more
- Dr. Tommy Weatherford was named Professor Emeritus in the Department of Periodontology by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. Dr. Weatherford completed his Dental Medicine and Master of Dentistry degrees at UAB and joined the faculty in 1962, so this year marks his 50th at the school. Congratulations to Dr. Weatherford.
- Dr. Jean O'Neal has been named Associate Dean for Patient Success. Her role will be to focus on the patient experience by improving processes that actively engage patients in their care.
