Distance Learning is the ability to learn without having to be physically present at a specific location. Over time there have been many different types of distance learning, including mail correspondence courses, courses on video (TV, Videotape, DVD), and courses over the internet. As you can probably guess by our name, GPC Online’s method of distance learning is via the internet.
GPC Online provides courses that are based in iCollege. iCollege is a web interface that creates a virtual classroom. You log into your personal iCollege account through the GPC website and access your courses remotely. Inside your virtual classroom you will find lecture notes, images, video, and much more… all organized to provide the same quality of education you would receive in a physical classroom.
While online classes do follow the same academic calendar as on-campus classes, you have the freedom to do work when your daily schedule permits. You can logon at 3:00 in the afternoon or at 3:00 in the morning. Or you can log on at noon one day and at midnight the next. Plus, there’s no need to worry about traffic or commute time.
So what is Distance Learning? Distance Learning is using technology to bring school to you, instead of making you go to school.
