Office of Quality Enhancement Plan: Engagement Drives GPC Education

EDGE Initiative staff provide the following services:
  1. Assisting faculty members in the creation of service learning / community-based research opportunities for students
  2. Providing faculty development opportunities via regularly planned faculty development workshops held on all campuses, brown-bag lunches, teaching circles, and round table discussions
  3. Providing student leadership development opportunities via the GPC Commitment to Service Scholarship and AmeriCorps program
  4. Offering issue education programming for faculty members and students that examines the root causes of community problems
  5. Facilitating reflection sessions with students when requested
  6. Hosting college-wide, one-day service events both on-campus and off-campus
  7. Conducting community partner workshops
  8. Developing and maintaining relationships with community-based organizations (non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and schools)
  9. Assisting faculty members in the development of new partnerships with community-based organizations
  10. Visiting service learning / community-based research placement sites to ensure quality, meaningful placements
  11. Maintaining a service learning / community-based research library and resource center
  12. Assessing service learning / community-based research activities
  13. Directing students to available service learning / community-based research opportunities
  14. Providing recognition to faculty members and students who participate in communty-based learning activities
  15. Securing resources for the implementation service learning / community-based research activities
