Perimeter College Community Wind Ensemble
The Perimeter College Community Wind Ensemble was founded in the fall of 1967 with 8 members as the DeKalb College Band at DeKalb Community College, directed by Dr. Thomas Anderson. The band was invited to many regional and national conventions throughout the southeast. Throughout its almost 50 years history GPC Community Wind Ensemble has established strong connection with the local community providing it with high quality music performances and great entertainment.
Besides its first director, Dr. Anderson, GPC Wind Ensemble was also lead by such great directors as Mike McClary, Greg McLean, and Alan Barbee.
Since 2004 Perimeter College Community Wind Ensemble performs under the direction of Mr. Slava Michael Prudchenko. From the time Mr. Prudchenko took the podium, he rebuilt this group from the ground up. Starting with only six members, the Wind Ensemble has risen to almost 50 current members. Under the direction of Slava Michael Prudchenko the Wind Ensemble has performed numerous concerts at the Cole Auditorium in Clarkston, GA as well as at other venues throughout Metro Atlanta.
Today, as a community outreach vehicle of the Perimeter College, the Community Wind Ensemble is dedicated to the performance of standard as well as new works for the wind ensemble at the Perimeter College and surrounding venues. Its membership includes Perimeter College students, high & junior high local school students, professional musicians, amateurs, teachers, Perimeter College faculty, and local community residents.
