**Effective Summer semester, 2014, all students interested in pursuing Health Science and enrolled in the core classes, both for the transfer programs and for the career programs, will declare their major as: Health Science with a concentration in Health Science Professions. Transfer Programs in Health Sciences at GPC
Georgia Perimeter College offers five transfer programs of study in the health sciences field which are designed to satisfy the admission requirements of Georgia Regents University (formerly Georgia Health Science U.). Students who complete an associate's degree in one of these areas may apply to transfer to the Georgia Regents University (GRU) to earn a bachelor's degree. If a GPC student graduates with a 3.0 grade point average and meets the other admission criteria, he/she will be granted an interview at GRU. Students who graduate with less than a 3.0 grade point average may be considered for admission along with transfer students from other institutions.
Career Programs in Health Sciences at GPC
Career programs in the Health Sciences professions at GPC are specifically designed for students who wish to prepare for a career through a short, intensive program of specialized study and general education. While the emphasis in career education is on specialized offerings, each degree program includes a selection of courses from an approved core of general education. A minimum of 60 hours is required for these degrees although some programs require additional hours. Two programs (Dental Hygiene and Nursing) are offered on one of the GPC campuses. The other programs are offered in cooperation with another institution. Students who complete a career program will be eligible for an Associate of Science degree. Upon completion of these programs and the appropriate state certification, students will be able to seek employment in their chosen profession without additional education at another institution.
