Writing Center

Tutors offer a multi-dimensional approach to writing and grammar assignments. The purpose in one-on-one tutoring is to help students identify possible grammatical and structural errors in their work, understand basic essay format, and develop better writing skills.  Tutors are happy to provide these services; however, please note that they do not proofread or edit essays.  Students are encouraged to have specific questions about assignments or writing skills. The Writing Center also provides online tutoring which allows students to submit essays electronically.

The Writing Center is the place to prepare for the Regents' Test, review  graded Regents' essays, or appeal a Regents' essay grade. Microsoft Office 2000 and grammar software are available for student use. Computers are also equipped with Learning Plus and the practice Compass reading and writing programs.

The center has a large collection of practice tests and handouts on a variety of writing-related topics, and one copy of each handout is available to each student. Please check our workshop schedule for the latest on our grammar and writing workshops.
