Alan Craig

was named Interim Director of the Learning & Tutoring Centers at Georgia Perimeter College in August 2011. Alan became the Dunwoody LTC Coordinator in May 2004, after spending a year teaching and tutoring math at GPC. He earned a BA and MA in Mathematics from the University of South Florida and is currently working on a doctorate in developmental education from Grambling State University. He was in corporate IT for twenty-three years including sixteen in management, implementing and supporting information technology in multiple corporations. Alan is also Immediate Past President of the National College Learning Center Association and Treasurer of the Georgia Tutoring Association. He is a snowshoer, trail runner, marathoner, and grandfather.

Mary Hamilton

The interim assistant director of the Learning & Tutoring Centers is Mary Hamilton.  She is also the coordinator of the Learning and Tutoring Center on GPC’s Clarkston campus.  Mary is a veteran employee at Georgia Perimeter College.  She began her career in 1993 as a math tutor at what was the Lawrenceville campus, eventually becoming math lab supervisor at the Dunwoody campus before starting as coordinator at the Clarkston LTC in January 2010. 

Mary earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University and Master’s degree in Adult Education from the University of Georgia.

Jerrie Brooks

Jerrie Brooks is a native Georgian.  She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Massachusetts, at Smith College and Simmons College respectively.  A lover of the written word, she is a published author who has used her eclectic blend of education and experience in research, writing and training as a program manager, trainer and consultant in business, government, higher education and non-profits. She is the Communications Supervisor at the Decatur Learning and Tutoring Center.

Frances Burke

Frances is a native Atlantan with a tremendous aptitude for technology. She holds an Associate’s degree in Computer Science. She attended Clayton State University where she earned a BBA in Accounting with Finance minor. Frances has worked at the Decatur Campus Learning and Tutoring Center since 2001.

Cheryl Hodges

Born and raised in Los Angeles County, California and has also lived in Texas. She graduated from Georgia Perimeter College with her Associate's degree in Business Administration. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Kennesaw State University Summer 2007 and is currently working on her MBA. She has worked at GPC since 2003 and in the LTC since 2005.

Charles Lyon

is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism.  He has worked in both radio and television and has received two regional Emmy awards.  His previous teaching experience was in the Communication Department of Georgia State University.

Gail McCain

Born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Computer Science.  She then went to Memphis State for her M.S. in Computer Science before joining IBM as a Systems Engineer, where she worked for 7 years.  After staying home to raise 2 sons and a job move of her husband’s which took the family to Jacksonville, Florida, she began teaching at Florida Community College at Jacksonville. Gail and her husband, Tim, now live in Alpharetta and enjoy hiking the wooded trails at the Chattahoochee River National Recreational area. Gail is also a devoted Jazzerciser and science fiction reader.

Nancy Stephan McDaniel

is a Hoosier having been born in Gary, IN, but she has transitioned nicely into a Southern Belle. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with an M.A. in Professional Writing and has worked at GPC since 2005 as supervisor of the Writing and Reading Centers, adjunct instructor in Humanities, and advisor to the Writers’ Circle. She has published short stories, articles, and poems in both online and print media. Her memoir, The Truth About Butterflies, was published in June 2011, and she is currently working on a collection of poetry.

Angela Meyer

Angela Meyer received a bachelor’s degree in English and History with a minor in Creative Writing from Troy State University in Alabama where she provided tutoring assistance for the department of History. She attained a master’s degree in Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi.

During her graduate program, Ms. Meyer tutored geography for the athletics department and spent one semester serving as the graduate assistant for Statistics for Geographers.

After a few years in the business world serving as Researcher for different industries including government entities, commercial real estate, and financial consultancies, Angela returned to the world of academe where she served as assistant to the provost for the Decatur campus of Georgia Perimeter College.

In December 2003, Ms. Meyer became Rockdale ISS Lab Supervisor (now the Learning & Tutoring Center). Effective July 1, 2005 she assumed the position of Coordinator for the Learning & Tutoring Center and currently serves in that position at the Newton Campus.

Jim Milligan

BA in German, MA in English, at GPC since 2004,first as English adjunct professor and, since 2006, as the LTC Writing supervisor. Enjoy sports, reading, and writing. GA native.

Sohayla Mohebbi

Sohayla has a B.S. in Business Administration and M.A. in Mathematics.  She started with Dekalb College as a Math instructor in 1994 and became Coordinator of the Learning and Tutoring Center in 1995.

Arne Paulsen

Mathematics Supervisor of the Clarkston Campus Learning & Tutoring Center since 1996. Born in Oakland California, attended Rio Hondo Community College in Whittier, Cal; earned an A.A. in mathematics from Indian Valley Colleges in Novato, Cal; attended Memphis State; earned B.S. in mathematics at Georgia State; and earned M.S. in Statistics from University of Georgia. TENNIS!

LaNisha Thomas

LaNisha Thomas was born  and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and has also lived and worked in New York City. She graduate from Clark Atlanta University with an B.S. in Mathematics and M.S. in Applied Mathematics. She became Coordinator of the Alpharetta LTC in November 2010. Prior to joining Georgia Perimeter College, LaNisha was a college administrator for a fashion college in New York City.
