The goal of the Records Management is to maintain all applicable records in accordance with the requirements set forth by federal and state law, including the Georgia Records Act ( O.C.G.A. 50-18-90 et seq.) and Open Records Act ( O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 et seq.), and to meet requirements of external entities, such as accrediting bodies, with the most efficient system possible. In compliance with the Board of Regents directives, Georgia Perimeter College has adopted the Board of Regents Retention Guidelines for each type of record produced, maintained, or created (including electronic records and e-mail).
In order to provide for efficient storage and retention of inactive records, Georgia Perimeter College established a Records Center. In addition to storage of records, Records Management offers services of secure destruction of inactive records that have passed their retention period. This office also has the facilities to digitally image documents. A service currently offered to Admissions and Financial Aid.
