In 2010, GPC was invited by the Governor's Office of Customer Service to participate in the Great State to Serve pilot project focused on employee satisfaction. GPC was selected as one of eight state agencies and only USG institution to participate in the pilot. Georgia Perimeter employees ranked the institution as being a great place to work.

“Georgia Perimeter College recognizes that it’s most important asset is its employees without whom GPC would not be successful,” said GPC President Dr. Anthony S. Tricoli. “Enhancing the employee experience through trust, open communications and recognition is a key goal and directly supports the College’s mission of student success.”

GPC improved in all four dimensions of an employee satisfaction according to the 2011 Workplace Satisfaction Survey administered by The Public Performance and Management Group at Georgia State University which is helping the State of Georgia determine how satisfied state employees are with their workplace.

Employee satisfaction and teamwork are key components of college's strategic plan and goals as studies show that employee satisfaction with the workplace has a direct effect and influence on employee retention and customer satisfaction, said Fran Mohr, director of customer service at GPC. After a baseline survey was administered in January 2010, additional and targeted efforts and activities to increase employee involvement, communication and recognition were implemented and the results speak for themselves.

The following information indicates the percentage of employees who rated GPC with the highest ratings of 4 or 5 for these areas. The performance range is 1-5 points. The 2010 baseline ratings are followed by the 2011 survey results and the difference.

• Workplace Satisfaction - satisfaction with the quality of the workplace 69/74 (+5)

• Employee Satisfaction - overall employee satisfaction - 78/82 (+4)

• Customer Service - the organization's commitment to customer service - 79/81 (+2)

• Job Security 51/52 (+1)
