GPC Plans A Week of Celebration for Homecoming

Georgia Perimeter College students have selected the New Orleans Mardi Gras as the theme of for the college’s 2011 homecoming celebration. “Students leaders from each campus came together during the retreat this summer and a number of ideas came up,” said Tjazha Mazhani, student life coordinator and homecoming organizer. “Mardi Gras and its celebratory theme was the idea the students liked the most.” :   

Events planned for Homecoming:

o Monday, November 7
 Mardi Gras Parade, 12 p.m., Clarkston Campus (starts at Student Center)
 Hypnotist Tom Deluca, 3 p.m.-5 p.m., Newton Campus 2N Lecture Hall
 Mardi Gras Fest: Black Light Casino Night, 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Dunwoody Campus Student Center
• Free admission and food for GPC students with ID
 Black Magic Dinner, 7 pm, Clarkston Campus Student Center
• Free admission and dinner for GPC students with ID

o Tuesday, November 8
 Homecoming Festival, 12 p.m.-5 p.m., Alpharetta Center side parking lot
• Free admission with college ID
• Featuring free food, games and giveaways with College ID
 Comedy Show ft. Steve Brown, Corwin “C Dawg” Oglesby and T Ray, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Decatur Campus Student Center (SC 2100)
• Free Admission and Giveaways 

o Wednesday, November 9
 Music Fest, 6:30 p.m., Clarkston Campus Quad
• Free admission
• Free food for GPC students with ID
• Featuring Live Performances and special performances by “The Sugarfoot Stompers”

o Thursday, November 10
 Super Kart Experience, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., Andretti Indoor Karting & Games
• Free student ticket required for entry
• Valid driver’s license required for karting access 
Student ticket available in the Student Life offices

o Friday, November 11
 Homecoming Take-It-To-The-Hoop Tailgate, 4 p.m., Decatur Campus Lawn
• Free admission
• Free food for GPC students with ID 
 Men’s Basketball Game, 7 p.m., Decatur Campus – SC Gymnasium
• Free admission
• GPC students with ID eligible to compete in the half-court shot to win a free semester of tuition.

o Saturday, November 12
 Alumni College, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Clarkston Campus
• Registration available at 
 Men’s basketball game, 4 p.m., Decatur Campus – SC Gymnasium
• Free admission
• Guests eligible to win two free tickets to an Atlanta Falcons Football Game.
 Masquerade Ball, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Omni Hotel at the CNN Center
• Live DJ and free food
• Witness the crowning of Mr. and Ms. GPC 2011
• Free ticket for GPC students with ID and one free guest ticket
