Actor Daryl 'Chill' Mitchell to Visit GPC on March 26
Georgia Perimeter College will host a visit by actor Daryl “Chill” Mitchell from 4 to 6 p.m. on March 26 at the Decatur Campus.
The event is free and open to the public. The Decatur Campus is located at 3251 Panthersville Road. The program will be held in building SF, room 2100. For more information, call GPC Office of Student Life at 678-891-2740.
Mitchell is best known as a comedic entertainer on several television shows and movies. He co-starred in the short-lived Fox television show “Brothers,” and had recurring roles in “Veronica’s Closet,” “The John Larroquette Show,” and “The Game.”
Mitchell was enjoying surging popularity when he was paralyzed from the waist down in a 2001 motorcycle accident. He got full support from his family and friends, including Denzel Washington and Chris Tucker, to continue his career.
Mitchell advises other wheelchair users to hold on to something they believe in. “You cannot do this by yourself. You need your family, your friends, faith, and love,” he says.
Mitchell founded the Daryl Mitchell Foundation to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries and serves as the Minority Outreach spokesperson for the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
