Georgia Perimeter College Decatur Campus invites the community to join them for “Art on the Edge,” a campus-wide symposium celebrating the arts, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 6.
“We’re hoping to expose everybody else to creativity and inspiration,” said Phil Mosier, Decatur Campus art instructor. “These things are emotional and not physical in the thought process. That makes artists so out of the ordinary from others. If we invite everyone in during this symposium, they may like it in our realm.”
Friday’s events include a quilt-making workshop from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in building SF, room 2100. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history of quilts as well as how they are crafted. From 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., closing ceremonies will include a discussion on the impact and contributions of art to our society. A buffet lunch will be served while live music is played.
“We think this is an event that the entire community will benefit from and enjoy,” said George Vargas, associate professor of political science. “Everything is free and open to the public. We hope to see and share these events with many of our neighbors.”
