For Immediate Release
One of the world’s funniest comic plays, “Tartuffe”, will be presented by Theatre Arts Guild at Georgia Perimeter College from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 at the Clarkston Campus. Translated from the French by Amlin Gray, the play is, like Molière’s original, written in rhyming verse, but with an ending that might be considered closer to Molière’s original 17th century intentions.
Sally J. Robertson directs the GPC production which centers on the hilarious hypocrite Tartuffe. Preaching piety, the two-faced Tartuffe is plotting to steal Orgon's fortune, marry his daughter, seduce his wife and take over his home. Can anything stop him?
Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26, 27, Nov. 2 and 3; and 3 p.m. Sundays Oct. 28 and Nov. 4. General admission tickets are $15. Discounted tickets for seniors are $10 and students at other schools are $5. GPC students, staff and faculty receive one free ticket with GPC ID.
The play is recommended for ages 10 and older. Neither infants nor toddlers will be admitted.
