Question
AP: Don’t colleges want to see AP courses on my high school transcript?
Answer
What colleges look for is the rigor of the curriculum and the high school GPA. Advanced placement classes have the reputation for indicating rigor of curriculum; however, the standards for qualifying for an AP class are set by each high school. Students enrolled in college classes while still in high school have met admission criteria set by the University System of Georgia for USG institutions state-wide. As more and more students are encouraged to take AP classes, the pass rate (3+ on a scale from 1-5) is dropping for most high schools.
