  • FIRST YEAR SEMINAR

Georgia Perimeter College established a First Year Seminar in Fall 2011 as part of a broader effort to connect with students in the early period of their transition to a college environment.  Research has demonstrated that students who become engaged in the college community are more likely to succeed academically.

GPCS 1010, First Year Seminar, is a three credit course that introduces students to college life, provides information on expectations of college students and strategies for college success, and builds information literacy through investigation of a specific theme.  Themes are selected and designed by seminar instructors.

See the sidebar for information on applying to teach the First Year Seminar in Fall 2012.  Direct questions to James Engstrom, First Year Seminar Coordinator, at 770-274-5413 or James.Engstrom@gpc.edu.   Applications are due on or before February 10, 2012.
