Professor Simson's concentrations through his M.A. and PhD. history studies include the following areas: World History and World Systems; Antiquity--Greco-Roman History; American Political Tradition and American Labor History as well as American Colonial and U.S Southern History. His dissertation work is on the maintenance of an industrial peace in the East Tennessee Copper Basin through the two world wars. He has been published in the Journal of Appalachian Studies (Fall 2001) and has had special training by the University of Hawaii's East-West Center on infusing Asian Studies into the undergraduate curriculum. Professor Simson is active in the internationalization of Georgia Perimeter College. He is an avid hiker, gardener and singer.
