The History Department congratulates Nicholas Foreman, a grad student in the UF History Department, on the publication of his article in the Smithosonian.com website.  This piece discusses the first refugee crisis in the United States, which followed in the wake of the slave revolt that overthrew the French colonial regime in Saint-Domingue, now Haiti, during the 1790s.  You can read the article in its entirety here.
