The Temple University Libraries' collection contains more than 2.3 million volumes and more than 16,000 current serial titles. All borrowing of library materials is restricted to some degree, based on the borrower's affliation with the University and the type of material being borrowed.

Most Temple University Libraries feature a general circulating collection, composed primarily of monographs, which can be easily borrowed by current students, faculty and staff. Qualified non-affilated patrons can acquire limited borrowing privileges for a nominal fee. The exact length of the loan period is determined by the type of material being lent.

Most circulating collection material is lent to graduate students and faculty for an entire semester, with a fixed due date, and to undergraduates, staff, and most other borrowers for a four-week loan period. Semester loans are also extended to undergraduates in the Honors program, and fifth year students in the Department of Architecture Program. All items, while on loan, can be recalled by Temple patrons. Non-recalled items on loan can be renewed online through My Library Account. Books can also be renewed in person at any circulation desk.

Failure to return items by their assigned due date will result in the temporary loss of borrowing privileges. Fines will be levied for materials returned late, damaged, or lost.

Please see our Borrowing Privileges chart for loan periods, late fines, and replacement charges.
