Narrative:
Troy University is in compliance with this Comprehensive Standard.
Troy University requires at least 25 percent of the credit hours earned through instruction for its undergraduate degree programs to be taken at the University. All Troy University students, regardless of campus or location, are required to meet this standard in order to graduate with an undergraduate degree from Troy University. All students who transfer to Troy University must earn at least 25 per cent of their credit hours through instruction at the University. Troy University partnerships, as discussed in Comprehensive Standard 3.4.7, require that students meet the same standards for receiving an undergraduate degree from the University. These standards include a residency requirement of at least 25 percent of credit hours required for the degree.
The residency requirement for undergraduate degrees is detailed in the Undergraduate Catalog and shown below
Credit Hours
The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following requirements:
Residency Credits
Effective fall 2005, credit taken through any Troy University location will be counted towards residency credit for graduation. Students enrolled prior to fall 2005 should see their academic advisers concerning residency credit.
Residency Requirements
A candidate for graduation must have attended Troy University for at least two semesters and must have earned at least 25% of the degree in residence. This may include the semester in which graduation is scheduled. Any Troy University course for credit counts toward residency (excluding remedial courses and institutional credit AEG courses).
At the undergraduate level, residency credit is tracked through the academic evaluation report (also called a degree audit) used for all degree programs. The report is generated by the University’s Records Office and is available to students online via the Trojan Web Express. For undergraduate degrees, a major residency requirement is tracked, as well as the overall degree residency requirement. The residency requirements for each student’s major are also tracked via the academic evaluation. Student transcripts contain the name of each institution from which transfer credit is accepted; Troy University course location is indicated by section code (the Troy campus section codes begin with “T”, Montgomery campus courses have section codes which begin with “M”, etc).
The Undergraduate Catalog contains all degree completion policies for undergraduate degrees. Examples of specific student transcripts and academic evaluations documenting the procedures noted above are available upon request.
