A Letter from the Director
Deborah McCarthy
Dear Students:
Happy New Year and welcome to the Spring 2012 semester! All of the SDS team is happy to welcome you back to campus. Your academic and personal success is what motivates SDS. Make note of these upcoming opportunities for the 2012 semester:
SDS completed the additions and renovations to our space. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit, come by and check out our expanded testing spaces and quiet lounge area. You can also check out the art exhibit by artists with disabilities displayed by VSA Florida.
It's never too early to start thinking about scheduling your tests and quizzes. SDS administered a record number of quizzes, tests and finals (nearly 1,500) during the Fall 2012 semester. To make sure your accommodations are available to you, please request your testing space early and pay attention to SDS deadlines and emails.
If health was one of your new year's resolutions, USF has several opportunities for you this semester. See the "Exercise is Medicine" article in the Spring 2012 newsletter for resources on how exercise can improve pain management, focus and general wellness - especially for individuals with disabilities. Tampa campus will also be launching new guidelines for smoking on campus - designed to promote the health of the USF community.
Wishing you great success this semester and always! Go Bulls!
Regards,
Deb McCarthy,
Director, Students with Disabilities Services
