Are you a compassionate individual who enjoys working with people who need gentle care and understanding? Would
you like to be a part of a medical team that is experiencing a shortage in trained State Tested Nursing Assistants?
If you are that unique individual, Kent State Geauga is interested in talking with you about the newest offering, a State
of Ohio certified course that prepares individuals to take the State STNA exam.
Students will learn basic nursing skills including infection control, personal care skills, mental health and social service
needs, safety and emergency needs, basic restorative services and residents’ rights. This 90 hour course, including
clinical experience, is offered for the convenience of working individuals.
The next regular session will begin on January 8, 2009 and conclude on March 7, 2009. The classes are held on Thursday
evenings 6-8:30 pm and Saturday 8-4:30 pm. Classes will be conducted on the Kent Geauga Campus and at Holly Hill
Nursing Home in Newbury. Instructor Paula Leonette, RN, MICN, brings over 30 years experience in the healthcare
field to the classroom. Ms. Leonette enhances the learning experience with positive feedback and support.
Kent State Geauga is offering the STNA program at $610 which includes the book and student manual. Students must
provide at their cost, verification of a negative 2-step TB test, a BCI background check with no criminal history, uniform
and shoes. The STNA exam given at Kent State Geauga after the completion of the program will be at the student’s expense.
