The Political Science Department currently has two non-tenure track faculty positions available:

1.  American Politics and Policy, Kent campus
2.  American Politics, Kent campus

Department of Political Science
Non-tenure track, Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor
American Politics and Policy

Title of Position:  Visiting Assistant Professor (PhD) or Instructor (ABD)
Starting date:  August 17, 2008, pending final budget approval
Salary of Appointment Range:  $35,500 + full benefits
Geographic Region of the Institution:  Midwest

The Department of Political Science at Kent State University invites applications for a one-year position in American Politics and Policy during Academic Year 2008-09. Applicants should have broad expertise in American politics and be prepared to teach both introductory level and advanced undergraduate courses in American politics and policy; ability to teach parties, interest groups, and the media is helpful. The teaching load will be four courses per semester.

The Political Science Department offers the PhD, MA, MPA, and BA degrees, including a Bachelor’s degree in Conflict Management. Its twenty-five full-time faculty engage in policy-related research at all levels of governance.

The department will undertake a tenure track search in American politics and policy during the academic year.

A letter of interest (including explanations of academic training and current research agenda), curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts, teaching portfolio (with evaluations or summaries), and contact information regarding three references should be sent in one packet by mail to:

The ability to teach either introduction to comparative politics or introduction to international relations is a plus. The teaching load will be four courses per semester.
