RFF's primary research disciplines are economics and other social sciences. Doctoral dissertation research support is offered on issues related to the environment, natural resources, or energy. A stipend of $12,000 is offered by 2005-6. Fellowship candidates must have completed all preliminary exams for the doctorate and be in their final year of dissertation research.

Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research program has been providing undergraduate and graduate students with valuable educational experiences via their small grants for more than 80 years. Grants of $1,000 or less are awarded to students (via their faculty advisors) from all areas of sciences and engineering to pay for travel expenses to and from research sites or for purchase of non-standard laboratory equipment necessary to specific research project. Also designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants up to $2,500 for astronomy or vision-related research. See website for details.
US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT AWARDS TO DOCTORAL STUDENTS - WWW.OUP.ORG.
Awards of $15,000 are available to doctoral students who have completed their first year of doctoral studies. The student is asked to produce a research paper that relates to the mission of HUD. Students who have completed all requirements except the dissertation are eligible for a dissertation grant of $25,000. See website for details.
AMERICAN PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY LIBRARY RESIDENT RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS - DEADLINE March 1, 2005
APS Library offers short-term residential fellowships for conducting research in its collections. The Society's Library is located near Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA. Stipend is for $2,000 per month and the term is a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 taken between June 1 and May 31, 2005 (and to continue...). The St. Louis University Vatican Film Library supports post-doctoral scholars or graduate students working on dissertations on any topic supported by the collections of the Vatican Library manuscripts or Jesuit archival material held. Topics may include paleography, codicology, illumination, textual criticism, history, literature, music, science, philosophy, theology, liturgy, scriptural and patristic studies, Roman and canon law, political theory, etc. Cost of travel and per diem (currently $73 per day) is offered to researchers for periods between 2 and 8 weeks. Shorter periods are eligible for per diem support but not for travel. See website for details.
