New Members Named to Faculty Senate

Millersville’s Faculty Senate held elections this spring for numerous faculty positions on committees across campus. Another election is planned for the September 2 meeting to fill any remaining vacancies. The officers for next year are Dr. Margaret Ana Börger-Greco, foreign languages, as Chair; Dr. Rebecca Mowrey, wellness and sports sciences, as Chair Pro Tempore; and Dr. Aimee Miller, chemistry, as Secretary.  

The Senate meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month during the academic year to address a variety of academic and campus issues and to consider curriculum proposals. They also team up with the Student Senate as needed when items on both Senates’ agendas collide.

Congratulations are in order to the following persons elected as new members this year:

  • Academic Outcomes Assessment—new members are Scott Anderson, library and Dr. Noel Heitmann, mathematics.
  • Academic Policies—new members are Dr. Tim Mahoney, education foundations, Dr. Steven Miller, English, Dr. Alex DeCaria, earth sciences and Dr. Ron Baker, economics.
  • Academic Standards—new members are Dr. Sandy Deemer, education foundations, Debbie Sigel, art, Dr. Susan DiBartolomeis, biology, Dr. Jeff Wimer, wellness and sport sciences, Dr. Melinda Rosenthal, English and Dr. Dominique Dagit, biology.
  • Admissions, Advisement and Student Affairs—new members are Dr. Joe Lynch, counseling and human development and Dr. Bruce Ikenaga, mathematics.
  • Bylaws—new member is Dr. Todd Sikora, earth sciences.
  • Commencement Speaker—new member is Dr. Ying Wushanley, wellness and sport sciences.
  • Cultural Affairs—new members are Dr. Dominique Dagit, biology and Dr. Gerard Igyor, communications.
  • Educator of the Year Selection—new members are Dr. Greg Seigworth, communications and Dr. Zhoude Shao, mathematics.
  • Faculty-Student Athletic—new members are Dr. Jay Mone, biology and Dr. Joe Lynch, counseling and human development.
  • Financial Aid—new member is Dr. Bruce Ikenaga, mathematics.
  • General Education Review (GERC)—new members are Dr. Beverly Skinner, elected chair, English; Dr. Shawn Gallagher, psychology; Dr. Christine Gaudry-Hudson, foreign languages and Dr. Antonia Cardwell, mathematics.
  • Honorary Degree—new members are Dr. Ken DeLucca, industry & technology and Dr. Susan Luek, psychology.
  • International Selection—new members are Dr. Gerard Igyor, communications; Dr. Debbie Sigel, art; Dr. Jean Boal, biology and Dr. Dominic Scott, education foundations.
  • Joint Senate Conference—new members are Dr. Becky Mowrey, elected chair, wellness and sport sciences; Dr. Nazli Mollah-Hardy, computer science and Dr. Andre Moine, foreign languages.
  • Judicial Board—new members are Dr. Andre Moine, foreign languages; Dr. Ryan Wagner, biology and Dr. Sharon Brusic, industry & technology.
  • Noonan Fund—new members are Dr. Ying Wushanley, wellness and sport sciences, Dr. Margaret Ana Börger-Greco, foreign languages and Dr. Zhoude Shao, mathematics.
  • Undergraduate Course and Program Review—new members are Dr. Mark Snyder, industry and technology; Dr. Jen Miller, philosophy; Dr. Nazli Mollah-Hardy, computer science and Dr. Carrie Smith, sociology.
  • University Theme—new members are Dr. Dominic Scott, education foundations and Greg Szczyrbak, library.
