Office of University Planning and Research

To Members of the Northeastern Community:

Welcome to Northeastern’s Reaccreditation Web Site.

Northeastern University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).  Every ten years universities go through a reaccreditation process in order to maintain their status.  This process includes the development of a self-study and then a visit from an evaluation team comprised of faculty members and administrators from other institutions of higher education.  Such a team will be on campus November 2 – 5, 2008.

This process is being co-chaired by Ahmed Abdelal, Provost, and Mark Putnam, Senior Vice President for Executive Affairs.  Teams of faculty members, administrators and students have been gathered to address the eleven standards that have been developed by NEASC’s Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.  Over one hundred members of our community are actively engaged in this process.

We hope that you, too, will take part in the process by offering suggestions and ideas whether in focus groups or on this site.  You will notice to the left a link to the evaluation standards.  Please take a look at them and let us know if there are things that you think we are doing particularly well or things that you think that we should be working on doing better.  Your comments will get to the appropriate committee.

You will also note a link to a timeline for the process.  Individual chapters are being developed in the early- to mid-Spring semester and that the comprehensive document will be developed late in the Spring semester.  We will also want your comments on the entire document.
