Room Changes
Please note: Northeastern University has a housing freeze at the beginning of each semester when room changes will not occur.
Students looking to change rooms must first contact their Residence Director to notify them and check for any vacancies in their current residence hall. If a space is not available in the student’s current residential facility the Residence Director and student can work with Housing Services to find a location elsewhere on campus. It is important to know that requesting a room change does not guarantee a swap; room changes are pending vacancies on campus. Room availability is based on demand, and is first come first serve.
Once the student has secured their room change they will have 48 hours to move completely out of their current bedspace and into their new room. Please see Move-Out Procedures for more information about moving out. You may access this information by clicking here.
You can visit your Residence Director as early as the Wednesday before room change period begins to secure the appropriate paperwork needed to participate in the Room Change Process, which begins promptly on the first day of Room Change Period.
