Welcome to the Spiritual Life Center
The Spiritual Life Center (SLC) strives to to serve, support, nurture and celebrate the spiritual and religious well-being of all in the NU community. Some of the ways we work to provide this support are:
- Friendly support staff and chaplains from many faiths and spiritual paths are here to serve all
- The Sacred Space - a beautiful award-winning multi-faith space for worship, private contemplation, group meetings, and special events
- A variety of creative programs to support personal and spiritual growth, ethical development, interfaith dialogue, a sense of community, service to others and more
- Referrals to a broad range of campus religious groups and local places of worship in many traditions
- Guidelines to: ensure healthy campus faith practice, build constructive interfaith dialogue and cooperation, and recognize destructive religious groups and practices
- Suppport for building a balanced life of overall Wellness, including providing experiences/ training in such spiritual wellness practices as Reiki, meditation and yoga, and offering the annual signature event "NU Spiritual Wellness Week"
- A strong collaboration with the Multi-faith Student Connection group, the Social Justice Resource Center and Cultural Centers, to encourage essential human connections that embrace diversity
- Leadership development for the spiritually engaged students who will be tomorrow's leaders, through such opportunities as the annual "Unplugged" multi-faith spirituality and leadership retreat, as well as the Cardinal Cushing Scholarship and William H. Wildes Scholarship awards www.neu.edu/studentlife/leaders/scholarship.html
- Providing support systems for new and continuing students. Through pastoral counseling opportunities with chaplains, inclusion on the We Care team, and coordination of memorial services/ grief support, the SLC aids students through some of life's difficult times. www.northeastern.edu/wecare
