University of South Alabama College of Nursing

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

The role of nurse practitioner specializing in Pediatric Nursing is offered at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing. The MSN program prepares graduates for advanced nursing practice and for doctoral study. Graduates of the program are able to synthesize and apply advanced knowledge, theories, and research to a specialized area of nursing practice and function as leaders in practice to contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession.

A common core of courses are offered online including concepts, theory, research, and issues related to advanced nursing practice. The PNP Program requires 2 to 3 orientation days on-campus in the first semester. The dates for this orientation vary each fall. Clinical requirements can usually be completed with preceptors in the students’ home community.

The Fall 2012 MCN NP Track Orientation will be hosted on our campus, Monday-Wednesday, September 10-12, 2012.
