Frank Daugherty
ELC Program Coordinator
Instruction is offered on the intermediate and advanced levels, with emphasis on the basic skill areas of reading and vocabulary, structure, oral skills, composition, and listening comprehension. Special elective courses are also offered: Practical Vocabulary and Idioms, TOEFL Preparation, English on the Internet, Basic Word Skills, and American Culture.
There are five 8-week terms a year, and students receive 20 hours of intensive English instruction a week. Small classes permit the students to receive more attention from the instructors. All instruction is in English.
ELC students have at their disposal a modern computer lab with internet connections and instructional software. Supplementary computer lab assignments are a regular feature of instruction. For extra English conversation practice, a special Conversation Partner program allows our students to meet with young, American undergraduate students one to five times a week in a relaxed setting. Furthermore, our program offers field trips, parties, and social activities for ELC students.
