1. Updated 1/10/12: Currently looking for subs for group fitness classes (all types). Requirements: Must be an enrolled USA student or current USA employee. Current accredited group fitness certification required (such as ACE, AFAA, or NETA) and at least six months’ experience teaching preferred. Must have a current CPR/AED certification.  Hours: varied.

Learn to Teach Group Fitness!

Do you imagine yourself teaching group fitness classes? Sign up for SouthFit’s “Instructor Training Course”. One semester, non-credit course that will prepare you to teach classes and become certified.Cost: $50 USA, $75 non-USA. Fee includes Adult CPR/AED certification. Open to the public, however, upon successful completion of the course, you must be a USA student or employee to be hired at the Student Recreation Center. Become a Personal Trainer!

The University of South Alabama is now an ACE Educational Partner and will be offering the Personal Trainer Curriculum course. Next offered Spring 2012.

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, February 23rd—April 26th, 2012.  No class 3/13 & 3/15 (Spring Break).
Time:4:30-5:30 p.m. in Recreation Center Classroom
Cost: Current USA students, faculty, and staff, $50. Non-USA, $75. Cash or check only, no debit/credit cards. The cost includes an American Red Cross Adult CPR/AED certification. It does NOT include the ACE Personal Trainer manual, 4th ed. Participants receive a 20% discount on this manual and other ACE study materials.

The course is preparation for a national, NCCA-accredited certification and does NOT include the exam fee for the ACE Personal Trainer Exam. The participant is responsible for signing up and taking the exam on his/her own time. The course is open to the public; however, in order to work at the USA Recreation Center, the participant must successfully pass the exam and be a current USA student, faculty, or staff.
