Last Updated: 04/28/2010

Attention all students:

To receive financial aid for Summer/Term 5 2010 your 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed by June 1, 2010. All additional documents must be received by June 15, 2010.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for summer financial aid, you must:

  • Be admitted as a regular degree seeking student
  • Be enrolled at least half-time to receive a Stafford Loan
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate and have financial need to receive a Pell Grant
  • Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2009-2010 and have listed Troy University (school code 001047) to receive a copy
  • Have submitted 2009-2010 Financial Aid Certification Form/FA Counseling
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
    • If you are not making satisfactory academic progress at the end of the spring you are not eligible for summer financial aid.
    • Appeal procedures are available within the satisfactory academic progress information.

Application Process

There is a separate application for summer financial aid which is letting us know that you are requesting additional/unused financial aid and your intent to enroll.

Summer is considered a separate semester which means that your loan will be a single term loan even though you may have borrowed for the academic year.

Concurrent Enrollment

If you are enrolled at Troy University and another school, you may only receive financial aid at one school or the other but not both. You would receive aid at the school determined to be your home school.

Summer Federal Work Study

You can work during the summer if:

  • You meet the general requirements above
  • You were receiving Federal Work Study during the 2009-2010 regular academic year
  • You have been awarded summer work study
  • There are funds available
