Biography:

Dr. William Edberg is an Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

Dr. Edberg received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Delaware. Dr. Edberg's area of expertise is Structural Engineering, with emphasis on Bridge Engineering.

Before becoming a faculty member at UMass-Dartmouth, Dr. Edberg worked for Lichtenstein Consulting Engineers, P.C. in New York, NY.

Dr. Edberg worked on the development and testing of the AASHTO Guide Manual for Condition Evaluation and Load and Resistance Factor Rating of Highway Bridges.

Dr. Edberg has performed design, inspection, and ratings of bridge superstructures, forensic studies of bridge failures, and development of automated software systems for special load analysis.

Dr. Edberg is the author of a number of articles and papers in journals/conference proceedings. His research interests include probabilistic specification development, bridge and other infrastructure asset database programs for structural analysis and management, and use of advanced fiber reinforced polymers in civil engineering applications.

Dr. Edberg is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Dr. Edberg is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Massachusetts and New York.
