If you are making a donation using your credit card, we are now required to supply the Credit Card ID #, known as the Card Verification Code. This code helps ensure against fraudulent transactions by ensuring the customer has the card in their possession and that the card account is legitimate. The card issuer (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) will check this code against the credit card number you give, and notify us if everything checks out.
To find the Credit Card ID #:
- Discover, Visa, and Mastercard: the 3-digit number is found on the signature strip on the back of the card. If the whole card number is also found on this strip, the ID number will be after the card number.
- American Express: the 4-digit number is found on the front of the card, on the right hand side above the card number. It is set in small black numerals and is not embossed.
