Health Education, Promotion & Wellness

Massage Program

Massage therapists from the Wellness Resource Center in North Dartmouth now offer on-campus AMMA Shiatsu-style table massage services for UMass Dartmouth students, staff, and faculty.

AMMA (pronounced AHM-MAH) is a Japanese word which means “to calm with the hands”. AMMA massage is done fully clothed, using no oils. The intention of the massage is to facilitate circulation, making it possible for the body’s own healing mechanisms to function effectively.

Massage services are available from 2-4 p.m. on Mondays and 5-7 p.m. on Wednesdays

The cost of a 25 minute massage is $15. (This half of what you would pay for a massage off-campus!)

To schedule a massage:

  • Put $15 on your UMass Pass under the “Other” account

Add money to your UMass Pass through UMass Pass Online or in person at the UMass Pass Office on the first floor of the Campus Center.

  • Go to Health Services to schedule an appointment. The $15 will be deducted from your UMass Pass at this time.

The massage program is offered in partnership with the UMass Dartmouth Department of Health Services. For additional information, contact Beth-Anne Vieira, Coordinator of Health Education & Promotion, at 508-910-6965 or bvieira@umassd.edu.
