Col. Emil Fioravanti
Emil Fioravanti appointed Director of Public Safety
Colonel Emil Fioravanti has been appointed UMass Dartmouth's new Director of Public Safety. Col. Fioravanti is a highly educated, professionally respected individual, who comes to UMass Dartmouth with a wealth of experience and knowledge. His academic degrees include a B.A. in sociology from Providence College, an M.P.A. (Master's in Public Administration) from the University of Rhode Island, and an M.S. in forensic science from the University of New Haven.
Col. Fioravanti brings with him 26 years of varied experience from the Providence Police Department, as well as 4 years of executive experience at Brown University. Additionally, he has remained actively involved in gaining advanced and specialized trainings. He has been a guest lecturer, instructor, and/or adjunct faculty member in Forensic Science-Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies at the RI State Crime Laboratory, the RI Municipal Police Academy, Johnson & Wales University, the Community College of Rhode Island, and Roger Williams University. Furthermore, Col. Fioravanti has been active in regional and national professional organizations, such as American Academy of Forensic Scientists, IACLEA, and CALEA.
