All-Girl Division II
NCA introduced a new division in 1999 - All-Girl Division II. NCA split up the All-Girl Division, creating an All-Girl Divison I/IA and an All-Girl Division II/III. In the past, the top 10 teams qualified for the Finals. Since the divsion has been divided, only the top 5 teams from each All-Girl Division qualify.
Knowing that only the top five teams would advance to the Finals put the pressure on UMass Dartmouth. However, UMD set the stage as it was the first squad to compete on Friday, April 2, 1999 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Corsairs took the floor at 8:30AM and, despite receiving a conservative score for being the first squad (judges tend to leave room to score higher if neccessary), UMD received the second highest score, advancing them into the Finals.
