Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Mahoney
Kevin Mahoney took over as the head men’s lacrosse coach at UMass Dartmouth prior to the 2004 season.
In his first season as head coach, Mahoney was named the Little East Conference Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 7-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the LEC. The Corsairs placed second in the LEC before losing in the tournament semi-finals. UMass Dartmouth also earned an invitation to the 2004 ECAC New England Division III Tournament.
A resident of Dartmouth, MA and a 1999 gradate of UMass Dartmouth, Mahoney was a former standout player for the Corsairs in both men’s lacrosse and football. Prior to his appointment as head coach following Jeff Feroce’s resignation, Mahoney had served as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach for two seasons.
In addition to his work as an assistant at UMass Dartmouth, Mahoney had served as head men’s lacrosse coach at Bishop Connolly in Fall River in 2001 after a season as a volunteer men’s and women’s assistant lacrosse coach at Dartmouth High School. Mahoney was an assistant football coach for UMass Dartmouth during the 2002 season before taking a similar position at Seekonk High School for the past two seasons.
As a student-athlete at UMass Dartmouth, Mahoney played football for the Corsairs from 1996 through 1999 and was selected as a team captain during his final season. He was a New England Football Conference First-Team offensive lineman in 1998 and a Second Team selection in 1999. He also played two years with the Corsairs’ men’s lacrosse team.
Mahoney is employed by the Greater Fall River Vocational School District as a Social Studies teacher at Diman High School. Originally from Dix Hills, NY, Mahoney played lacrosse and football at Hills West High School.
