FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                        Jan. 26, 2005

UMass Dartmouth's Kevin McGowan named

ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Week

(Dartmouth, MA) - UMass Dartmouth senior Kevin McGowan (Hingham, MA)
had a busy week in goal last week, turning aside 58 of the 61 shots he faced
to earn a pair of victories for the Corsairs. In recognition of his successful week,
McGowan was named ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Week today.

In the Corsairs' 4-2 non-conference win at UMass Boston on Jan. 18, McGowan
came up with 30 saves to lead the Corsairs to the victory.  Four days later,
McGowan made 28 saves in a 6-1 ECAC Northeast victory at the
University of Southern New Hampshire.

The win at USNH last Saturday lifted the Corsairs to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in
the ECAC Northeast. (UMass Dartmouth's Jan. 26 game against Suffolk University
was postponed due to inclement weather).  The Corsairs hold third place in
the ECAC NE with 12 points, trailing Curry College (7-0-1) and Wentworth Institute (7-0-1),
which are tied for first place.

Since the Corsairs have returned to competition after the holiday break, McGowan
has played a key role in a four-game UMass Dartmouth winning streak.  McGowan
blanked Nichols College for two periods in an 11-1 win and allowed only one goal
in an 8-1 win over Western New England.  Over his last four games, McGowan has
allowed only four goals, while the UMass Dartmouth offense has outscored its
opponents by a margin of 29-5.

In 15 appearances this season, McGowan has compiled an 11-4 won-loss record.
He has a 2.85 goals against average and a saves percentage of .898. He has faced
391 shots on goal and has made 351 saves. His 2.85 goals against average has
moved him up to fourth in the ECAC Northeast this season, while he is ranked sixth
in saves percentage and second in winning percentage (.733).

For his career, McGowan has a 45-13-1 overall record with a .771 winning percentage.
His career goals against average is 2.92 with a .889 saves percentage.

UMass Dartmouth will be back in action on Saturday when the Corsairs travel to
Fitchburg State College for an ECAC Northeast game against their long-time rivals.
Game time is 7 pm. UMass Dartmouth knocked off the Falcons, 5-1, in a
non-conference game played at Hetland Arena on Dec. 2.
