Welcome to the website of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence at the University of Florida. The University of Florida is the first American institution to receive funding from the European Union to establish a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence on campus.
The center, named after one of the most influential supporters of European integration throughout most of the 20th Century, is entirely dedicated to EU topics and supports an annual visiting scholar program, additional specific classes, and a yearly workshop. It is housed within the Center for European Studies.
The Migration Project
Under the auspices of a grant from the Jean Monnet Lifelong Learning Programme, sponsored by the EU Commission, the Center for European Studies and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence will offer a series of academic and cultural events related to the topic of European migration during 2008-2009 academic year. The project is entitled “Engaging Migration in Europe” (EMIE) and includes several interdisciplinary mini-workshops which will bring key international scholars, whose work focuses on specific topics related to EU migration, to the UF.
