  • Getting Started
    • Initializing mailbox
      • Press feature 981
      • Enter the default password < 0000 >
      • Press OK or # to end the password.
      • Using the dialpad, enter your new mailbox password.  Your password can be from 4 to 8 digits long, but it cannot start with zero.
      • Press OK or # to end your password
      • Press YES or # to accept your password 
      • After you have accepted your password, you are asked to record your name in the company directory.  At the tone, record your greeting.
      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.
    • Changing your mailbox password
      • Press feature 981
      • Enter < your old password >
      • Press OK or #
      • Press ADMIN or #
      • Press PSWD or 4
      • Enter < your new mailbox password >
      • Press OK or # to end your password
      • Press YES or # to accept your new password
      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.
  • Mailbox Greeting
    • Recording your personal mail box greeting
      • Press ADMIN or 8
      • Press GREET or 2 to select greeting options
      • Press RECORD or 1 to record your greeting.
      • Select which greeting you are going to record.  Note: You can choose to record either your Primary or Alternate Mailbox greeting, shown on the display as PRIME and ALT.  
      • Press YES or 1 to record your greeting.
      • At the tone, record your greeting.  Remember to speak clearly, at a pace that is easy to understand.
      • Press OK or # to end your recording.
      • Press OK or # to accept your recording.
      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.
    • Choosing a Mailbox Greeting
      • Press ADMIN or 8
      • Press GREET or 2 to select greeting options
      • Press CHOOSE or 2
      • Select which mailbox greeting your mailbox is going to play.
      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.
    • Recording a Personalized Greeting
      • Press ADMIN or 8
      • Press GREET or 2 
      • Press RECORD or 1
      • Press PERS or 3
      • Enter < a greeting number 1, 2, or3 >
      • Press CHNG
      • Enter < the telephone number that you want to assign to the Personalized Greeting >  Note: you must assign a unique telephone number to each Personalized Greeting
      • Press OK to accept the telephone number.
      • At the tone, record your greetings.  Remember to speak clearly at a pace that is easy to understand.  Note: Press PLAY or 2 to review the current greeting.
      • Press OK to accept your recording.
      • To record another personalized greeting, repeat steps 2 to 10.  
      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.
  • Listening to Mailbox
    • Listening to messages
      • To listen to messages, you must open your mailbox using the Open Mailbox Feature Code.  After you have opened your mailbox:
        • To listen to your new messages, press PLAY or 2
        • To listen to your saved messages, press 6.
      • Your first message starts to play.  While listening to a message, or after a message has played, you can:
        • Replay the message: <<  <  <<  < or 1 1.
        • Back up nine seconds: <<  < or 1
        • Pause and continue:  STOP  PLAY  or 2 to pause then 2 to continue
        • Forward nine seconds:  >  >> or 3
        • Skip to the end of message: >  >> or 3 3 or #
        • Play the previous message: 4
        • Forward the message: COPY or 5
        • Skip to the next message:  NEXT or 6 or #
        • Play time and date stamp: 7
        • Save a message:   7  7
        • Erase the message:  ERASE or 8
        • Reply to the message:  REPLY or 9
        • Volume control: *
        • Note: The options marked with an asterisk (*) only apply while the message is playing.
  • Transferring Calls
    • To transfer a call to a mailbox from your Norstar telephone:
      • Press feature 986
      • Note: do not press hold
      • Enter < the mailbox number > or use the Company Directory.
      • Note: press OK or # to accept a name when using the company directory.  Do not use the internal autodial feature.
      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.
  • Accessing Your Mailbox Away From the Office
    • When you are away from the office, you can access Norstart Voice Mail using the dialpad of any tone dial telephone.  To access your personal mailbox, press * * while youre personal greeting plays.  Enter your personal mailbox number and password combination and follow the voice prompts.  

    • Note:  After listening to your messages, the messages you do not delete are automatically saved.

  • Off Premise Message Notification

    • Off-premise message notification, to any telephone number or to a pager alerts you when messages are left in your mailbox.  

      • Press feature 981

      • Press password

      • Press ADMIN or 8

      • Press 6

      • Press ADMIN or 8 again

      • Press SETUP

      • Press POOL

      • Press OK

      • Press 9 # # and the number

    • Enabling & Disabling Off-premise Message Notification

      • to enable or disable, you must first open your mailbox using the Open mailbox feature code.  After you have opened your mailbox:

      • Press ADMIN or 8 to open the Mailbox Admin Menu.

      • Press 6 to access the Message Notification Menu.

      • Press SELECT or 2

      • Press CHNG or 1 to enable or disable Message Notification

      • Press QUIT or * to return to the mailbox admin. menu

      • To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.

    • Changing Off Premis Message Notification

      1. Press ADMIN or 8 to open the Mailbox Admin. Menu

      2. Press 6 to open the Message Notification Menu.

      3. Press ADMIN or 1 to change Message Notification.

      4. Press SETUP or 1 to change the first notification number. Note: Press NEXT or 2 to assign additional numbers.  Press DELETEor 3 to delete and # to accept an outdial number.

      5. Press LINE  or 1 to select a line.  Note: You can also select POOL or 2 or IC or 3

      6. Press CHNG or 1;  If you do not wish to change the line, pool, or intercom number, press OK or # and proceed to step 10.

      7. Enter < the new line, pool, or intercom number >

      8. Press OK or # to end the number.

      9. Press OK or # to accept the line, pool, or intercom number. Note: if you are entering an intercom number, go to step 17 after accepting the intercom number.

      10. Press CHNG or 1 to change the destination number.  If you do not wish to change the destination telephone number, press OKor # and proceed to step 14.

      11. Enter < the new destination telephone number >  Note: The destination telephone number cannot be longer than 30 digits.

      12. Press OK or # to end the telephone number.

      13. Press OK or # to accept the telephone number.

      14. Press CHNG or 1 to change the destination type. Note: The destination type can be either phone or pager.

      15. Press OK or # to accept the destination type phone. Note: when assigning the destination type pager, proceed to step 25.

      16. Press OK

      17. Press CHNG or 1 to change the start time.  If you do not wish to change the time, press NEXT or #

      18. Enter < the time when off-premise message notification is to start > Note:  this is a 4 digit field.  Any single digit hour and minute must be preceded by a zero.

      19. Press AM or 1 or PM or 2.

      20. Press OK or # to accept the start time.

      21. Press CHNG or 1 to change the stop time.  If you do not wish to change the time, press NEXT or #

      22. Enter < the time when off-premise message notification is to stop >  Note:  This is a 4 digit field.  Any single digit hour and minute must be preceded by a zero.

      23. Press AM or 1 or PM or 2.

      24. Press OK or # to accept the stop time.

      25. Press CHNG or 1 to change the Message Type.

      26. Press OK or # to accept the Message Type and return to the Outdial: X display.

      27. To end this Norstar Voice Mail session, press Rls.

  • Message Delivery Options

    • Norstar voice mail profices you with 4 message delivery options which are:

      • Certified CERT or 1 –> this option sends you notification that your message has been received and listened to.

      • Urgent URGENT or 2 –> this option marks the message and plays it before other messages in your mailbox.

      • Private Private or 3 –> this option prevents a message from being forwarded to another mailbox.

      • Normal SEND or # –> this option sends a message to a mailbox.  Normal messages are played in the order in which they are received, and can be forwarded to other mailboxes.
