New Research Grant for Dr. Leeman

Published: April 20th, 2016

Category: Front page posts, HEB Insider

Dr. Robert Leeman has been awarded a 2-year R21 grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIH/NIAAA) to evaluate blood alcohol content-related smartphone apps in combination with brief counseling for their effects in reducing alcohol consumption in the laboratory and in participants’ natural drinking environments. Dr. Leeman and his collaborators will enroll young adults between the ages of 21-25 in the research. In addition to evaluating these apps for their impact on alcohol use, they will also evaluate the usability of the apps including young adults’ self-reported comfort using the apps while out in public.
