Electronic Thesis & Dissertation (ETD) Technical Support

ETD Technical Support provides help desk support for UF graduate students while they prepare and submit their dissertation or thesis to the Graduate School Editorial Office.

This is accomplished by providing informational seminars, formatting templates, online tutorials and one-on-one consultation (walk-in as available and by appointment). We’re in the Hub, Room 132 and our training seminars are also held in the Hub, Room 221. To contact us (or to make an appointment for consultation), please contact us here or call us at 392-HELP and ask for an ETD Appointment.

Service Options

Just a few of the services we offer to students, faculty and staff.

MS Word & LaTeX Templates

Microsoft Word: A Word file in the correct format for UF Theses and Dissertations. Not only is the document in the correct format, but its content is an instruction manual in how to prepare a Thesis or Dissertation. This file will work on both PC and Mac. We provide it in the .doc format but recommend working in the .docx format if you are able.

LaTeX: We don’t recommend that you learn LaTeX expressly to write your Thesis or Dissertation, but if your field has already required that you learn LaTeX, this Template will save you a lot of time and effort.

Template Workshops and Training Seminars

Each Semester ETD holds several workshops on “How to use the ETD Template” for both MS Word and LaTeX. We recommend you take the workshop the Semester BEFORE you plan to graduate. You can always come in for a consult to refresh your memory or even repeat the workshop if necessary, but 2 hours spent early in the process can save days later on!

Online Tutorials

Instructions on how to use the Templates are also on line – available 24-7! Just because it’s 3:00 am doesn’t mean you can’t get the help you need.

Format Requirements

You can't hope to get it right if you don't even know what right is! Check out the Editorial Office Format requirements along with the critical dates and other graduation requirements.

What is this view?

You are using a dynamic assistive view of the University of Florida site. It has all the same data and features of the original site but formatted just with assistive users in mind. It has links and content reorganized to aid assistive users and has controls at the bottom under assistive options that allow you to control key aspects such as font size and contrast colors etc.
This is not a separate text-only site, it's a dynamic view that uses unique technology from Usablenet to give assistive users better, more accessible access to the same content and features as all users that use the graphic view of the site.
