DHHS Training Requirement

Required by DHHS, does not replace the UF requirements

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has mandated that researchers receive training in human subject protections and the ethical conduct of research. Any DHHS grant application must be accompanied by a cover letter indicating that training in human subject protections has been completed. The training requirement set forth by DHHS can be met through participation in a computer based training program (CBT) or tutorial. The CBT is available on the Internet, there is no cost, and the program takes about an hour to complete. A formal certificate of completion will follow once the program is concluded. Investigators and their study personnel should submit their certificate of completion to the NIH to demonstrate compliance with regard to the training requirement.

Computer Based Training: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide an on-line Computer Based Training (CBT) module for investigators who have won DHHS awards. Investigators at UF who receive funding from any DHHS funding agency must complete this training. We recommend that you take this training on-line and obtain a certificate of completion. Investigators should maintain a file with copies of all relevant training. It should take about one hour to complete this training. Good luck!
