About the Program
Experience life in tropical Mexico. Hike through caves. Sleep in a hammock. Visit ancient Maya archaeological sites. Travel to contemporary Maya villages. See monkeys, crocodiles, sea turtles, and
flamingoes. Take a boat trip through the mangroves. Sample Yucatecan cuisine. Hear new music. Dance to exotic rhythms. Live with a Mexican family in the beautiful, modern city of Mérida. Experience all this and more through the University of Florida/Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY) Summer B Program in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. You will receive 3 credits for Spanish, 3 credits for Tropical Ecology, and 2 credits for Humans and the Environment of the Yucatan Peninsula. Join us for fun classes and weekly field trips and have an unforgettable summer!
About the Location
Mérida is located in Southeast Mexico, about 20 miles from the Gulf. Often called “The White City,” Merida is one of the safest cities in the world and is famous for its rich culture.
You will go on weekly field trips as a part of this program.
You will participate in a homestay with a Mexican family. Meals with the host family are included in the program cost.
