Tim Sorel honored by BEA

Published: April 13th, 2015

Category: Faculty news, General News/Interest

Tim Sorel Congratulations to Tim Sorel. The Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts Competition committee awarded his foundation video for STOP Children’s Cancer an “Award of Excellence” in the faculty video competition. Tim has been volunteer producing for Stop Children’s Cancer for five years, helping the organization raise more than a million dollars to fund research in pediatric cancer. This is his third time winning an award in this national competition.

Additionally Tim will be leading a panel discussion between academics and industry professionals regarding the importance of students being able to troubleshoot equipment issues. Instead of tinkering and toying until they come up with a workable solution, many students seem willing to accept defeat and blame the equipment. During the discussion, industry professionals will highlight the importance of troubleshooting skills, while those in academia will discuss how we work with students to further develop their troubleshooting skills.
