“Latin America in Space” (March 20)

Rachel Haywood Ferreira discusses the Golden Age of Latin American SF, which coincided with the height of the Space Race and the emerging Atomic Age.

Professor Haywood Ferreira’s lecture in English, “Latin America in Space,” will begin at 4 PM, in Pugh Hall 201. The lecture is free and open to the public.

About Rachel Haywood Ferreira

Rachel Haywood Ferreira is Associate Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Iowa State University. She is co-editor of the book series Studies in Global Science Fiction for Palgrave Macmillan and of the journal Extrapolation, serves on the editorial boards of Science Fiction StudiesJournal of the Fantastic in the ArtsZanzalá – Revista Brasileira de Estudos de Ficção Científica, and Alambique: Revista Académica de Ciencia-Ficción y Fantasía / JornalAcadémico de Ficção Científica e Fantasia, and is subeditor for Latin American and Iberian science fiction for The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. She is the author of The Emergence of Latin American Science Fiction (Wesleyan University Press, 2011). Her current book project is provisionally titled Latin American Science Fiction in the Space Age.
